Our three IAS delegates were sent to Copenhagen to discuss world matters in this year's Model United Nations in the Birkerod Gymnasium of Denmark.
The International American School was proud to send a delegation to BIGMUN, the recent Model United Nations assembly hosted by the Birkerod Gymnasium in Copenhagen, Denmark. Our delegation represented the nation of Lebanon and was headed by Marcin Bielinski, Sebastian Kettley, and Michal Kolwas. The group participated in the four day conference from February 29-March 4 and contributed to a General Assembly resolution on the final day.
Participation in the Model United Nations provides a welcome opportunity for our students to fulfill their Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) hours as part of their IBO diploma. It also allows them to measure their rhetorical and diplomatic skills against peers from all across Europe. This was the second MUN undertaken by this group during the 2011-12 academic year and the experience is paying off. Marcin Bielinski gave a rousing speech to open the ceremony and all three delegates were active in their respective committee rooms. We're looking forward to the next occasion where we can support our students as they pursue more life enriching experiences.
