The IAS Administration wishes you a very Happy Thanksgiving. We hope you spend your time in peace and joy. Thanksgiving is a special day. On this day we give thanks to the people and for the things that we usually take for granted..
Dear Parents, Guardians and Teachers,
Thanksgiving is a special day. On this day we give thanks to the people and for the things that we usually take for granted. Today the students recognized this by writing letters describing what they are most thankful for and why. Students were challenged to think critically about what they have and how they got it. They showed an awesome level of maturity by naming family, friends, education, food, clothes and shelter as the things for which they are most thankful. Of course a few letters named iPhones and PSPs as well but as we talked about the roots of this traditional American holiday and why it is so celebrated, we took time to consider those who are less fortunate than us and what it means to help to ease the suffering of even one person. Compassion is a theme we will be returning to often this year, and there is no better time to practice it than Thanksgiving. We at the International American School hope that you will take the time to recognize what you consider most dear and hold it close to your heart on this special day.
As always you are invited to comment on our IAS Facebook page :)
