Students, teachers and parents took part in the #IASCharityChallenge on Friday. Three groups set off from Dembego 18 on a 24.7km walk aiming to walk at paces of 9min/km, 12min/km and 13min/km. Each of the groups managed to keep to the time that they aimed for and all participants agreed that this was a genuine challenge - many of those taking part got back to Dembego 18 with the last of their energy. The purpose of this walk was to raise money for the sponsorship of Blessing Namala’s education in Uganda. We have sponsored Blessing, an orphan abandoned by her parents at the age of two because of her disabilities, for a several years. The program that Blessing takes part in thanks to our help will allow her to achieve economic independence by learning the trade of tailor. All who took part on Friday gave their time and energy to raise money to support Blessing. We would like to thank all of those that took part and those that have contributed by sponsoring participants!
