On April 4th, the small school ventured to the the Zacheta Gallery. We saw an exhibition by Henryk Tomaszewski , the Polish poster artist. He was a Polish man who lived through two world wars.
He believed that the beauty of art is not perfect. Lines and shapes can be skewed and imperfections are a necessity. After viewing Tomaszewski’s work we made our own works of art. The Pre-K, KG, and 1st Graders made their own movie posters while the 2nd and 3rd grade had a challenge to make books out of an array of different materials. Thinking out of the box, students used: clothes, foil, ribbons, buttons and more to create extraordinary books, which had a unique beauty to them. Everyone enjoyed the trip and learn a lot about art and self acceptance.
