The grade seven class had the opportunity not only to see how some of their favorite treats are made, but also a chance to make some of them with their own hands!
Located just outside Warsaw in Konstancin, the Blikle Sweets and Pastry Factory was founded in 1869. They took us in for a tour of the factory - and right away put our students to work. Kneading dough into croissants, filling Polish 'Pączki' donuts with jam filling and topped with frosting, and finally having us design our own one of a kind' pastries were some of the main highlights of the tour. Student's designs ranged from Jolly Rogers and dolphins to angry birds and piggies - just to name a few.
A late afternoon snack of orange juice and pistachio flavoured ice-cream was the perfect topping to a most interesting and tasty field trip. Each student received a farewell box of treats, including their very-own, self-made, croissant, pączki and pastry.
A most delicious trip indeed!
