IAS Culture Trip to Venice, Rome & Florence

This year, IAS students had a wonderful 6-day educational trip to Italy, where history comes alive amongst the ruins of Pompeii, the Duomo of Florence, and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

The Green School team started our journey on the 8th of May, traveling via Czech Republic and Austria, and finally reaching Venice. We spent two days there, cruising the canals of Venice and wandering the neighboring hills of Tuscany. We then traveled to Rome, once the center of the Western world. Students learned the history of the Colosseum, which held 10,000 spectators; witnessed the ruins of the ancient Forum, where Julius Caesar delivered many of his great speeches; visited the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo transformed the ceiling into one of the world’s artistic masterpieces. The next day, we visited Vatican City and St Peter's Basilica, St. Peter's Square, Mark's Basilica, The Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, the Clock Tower and Ponte Rialto. After Rome, we continued the journey towards Florence, where students learned how Florence was king during the Renaissance. We discovered how the city is still full of treasures from that transformative period in history.

After a satisfying week we returned to Poland, where parents were glad to see their children happy and safe back at IAS!
