This past Tuesday our 5th and 6th grade students received a real treat: a visit from Akademia Przyrody and a workshop in environmental science.
The cafeteria became a regular greenery with bags of soil, sand, and charcoal gathered by the walls, and potted forest plants, stones and moss waiting for their new homes. Each student received a 2L jar and instructions about how to construct their own rainforest within it. Once some moisture was added to the mix, the jars were sealed. The students learned that the rainforest now had everything it needed to grow.
Many thanks to Akademia Przyrody for leading the workshop and giving our students some practical experience in how rain forests function. We hope the students take care of their forests for many years to come…
