Independence Day Talk

On 9th November IAS were proud to host a talk and discussion led by Grzegorz Boguta, a member of the 1989 Polish Round Table Talks that led to the establishment of democracy in Poland. In the talk he described his time in the opposition movement in the 1970s and 1980s, which included running the largest illegal printing press in Europe and the three years that he spent as a political prisoner. The discussion focused on many issues including the nature of totalitarian government, movements towards democracy and the European Union.
