In the Loop: IAS Bulletin 06 October – 10 October, 2025

Dear IAS Shoutouts,

I hope you have all enjoyed a good week. It has certainly been a busy one here at IAS! Our teachers are preparing enthusiastically for Community Week, which will take place the week after next, and our students are working hard across all areas of school life. The weather has turned distinctly autumnal, reminding us that colder days are ahead.

Wishing you all a restful weekend!

Announcements

October Training Day (School Closed)

On the 20th of October there is a staff training day, and the school will be closed. Although this has been on the calendar since the beginning of the year, we wanted to remind all community members.

Fall Community Week

This year we are planning two community weeks, the first of which is coming soon. Community weeks are opportunities to bring all members of our community together. The Fall Community Week will take place from the 13th to 17th of October. The schedule for the week is:

  • Monday 2pm KG & 1st Grade – Open Lesson Family Craft
  • Tuesday – Bake Sale / Teachers’ Day
  • Wednesday 2pm – Fun Run
  • Thursday 2pm 3rd and 4th Grade – Open Lesson Projects Presentations
  • Friday 2pm 2nd Grade – Open Lesson Family Craft

We would like to encourage the active participation of parents in these events. For that reason, we thought it important to let you know about the timings of these events beforehand. The Fun Run is intended to be for parents, students and teachers. More details about this event and the registration for it will be sent out next week.

Exploring Psychology Through Creativity

As part of last year’s MYP Psychology curriculum, students explored different branches and schools of thought in psychology, including behaviourism, functionalism, and humanistic psychology. To bring their learning to life, they were tasked with creating posters about influential psychologists and key facts from their lives.

This activity not only made the unit engaging and enjoyable, but it also supported the development of students’ ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills, particularly in research, collaboration, and creative communication. The results were a collection of beautiful, thoughtful, and informative posters that showcased both their understanding and creativity.

Everyone is warmly invited to stop by the Humanities board to read and enjoy these student-created posters!

D12 Learner Profile Awards

e Learner Profile of the Month for September was the Inquirer. Throughout the month the D12 teachers were keeping an eye out. This is what Ms Jagoda, Ms. Nancy, Ms. Celine, and Ms. Julia found:

In the K&G1 classroom Rozalia stands out as the most inquiring student. After becoming more comfortable in our classroom, her curious mind started showing through her actions. Throughout the school day she asks me and her classmates questions about every aspect of our day; our schedule, the content we cover in our lessons, the teachers who will come to our classroom, and just friendly questions about our lives. She is an excellent example of an Inquirer. Stay curious Rozalia!

Although many of my second graders are very curious and keep asking me questions like ‘why’, ‘why not’, ‘how’…Nityanta being a new student has lot more questions than others especially about the functioning of the school, the class routine, the said and unsaid rules and he never hesitates to raise a question when he does not know what to do. I hope his inquiries have helped him adapt to this new change at ease. Congratulations!

All month long, Joseph asked me about the classroom procedures, the content of the lessons, and who the learner of the month was going to be. When I told him he would find out at the end of the month, he was still unsatisfied. His inquisitive qualities persisted all month long, and so it made September’s learner of the month the obvious choice. Thank you for being in our class Joseph!

I did not choose a single 4th grader for this learner profile not because the 4th grade needs to work on their inquisition but because they all inquire about everything all the time. Whether it’s to clarify something they don’t understand, ask a follow-up question about a topic we are learning or to ask how many more minutes till lunch. undefined
