Middle School at International American School (IAS) is a dynamic and engaging learning environment that spans from 6th to 8th grade. Our mission is to provide students with a challenging and supportive educational experience that prepares them for their high school years and beyond. Our faculty is comprised of highly qualified and experienced teachers who are dedicated to providing individualized attention to each student and fostering a love for learning.

Middle School students at IAS are provided with a well-rounded curriculum that includes core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, as well as specialized subjects such as Music, Art, Physical Education, and World Languages. In addition to these subjects, IAS also offers an array of extracurricular activities that allow students to explore their interests and passions beyond the classroom.

At IAS, we believe in providing students with a strong foundation for their future academic success, which is why we have implemented a strong focus on 21st-century skills. Our students engage in project-based learning experiences that challenge them to think critically, collaborate with their peers, and use technology in meaningful ways.

Middle School is an exciting time for students as they make the transition from childhood to adolescence. At IAS, we recognize the importance of this time and strive to provide our students with a supportive and nurturing environment. Our faculty works closely with families to ensure that each student is challenged academically and provided with the necessary resources to succeed.

In conclusion, Middle School at IAS is a dynamic and engaging learning environment that provides students with the foundation and skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. Our mission is to inspire and challenge each student to reach their full potential and to foster a love for learning.

Modern Languages in Middle School:

We recognize the importance of learning modern foreign languages. In addition to English being the main language of instruction, we also offer PSL (Polish as a Second Language), French, and German. PSL is designed for students who do not speak Polish and aims to provide basic communicative skills. French and German classes start from Grade 6 and provide students with the opportunity to develop their language skills further. For students who need additional support in English, we have an ESL (English as a Second Language) program available. However, students in the ESL program may not be able to attend PSL, German, or French classes as they are in an intensive support class. Our goal is to provide students with a well-rounded education that includes the opportunity to learn multiple languages and to develop the communication skills necessary for success in a globalized world. Please note that from Grade 8, the students can choose either French or German. Grade 6 and 7 have both classes as mandatory if they are not on the ESL program.

Wondering why Poland has no “Gimnazjum” but IAS has a Middle School (an American equivalent?)

Middle School and Gimnazjum are two distinct educational systems, each with their own unique approach to education. Gimnazjum, which is no longer in existence in Poland, was a three-year educational program designed for students aged 13-15. The focus of the Gimnazjum was on preparing students for their final exams and future studies at high school level.

On the other hand, Middle School at IAS is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with an international education. The program runs from 6th to 9th grade and provides students with a well-rounded education, incorporating core academic subjects such as English, Math, Science, and History, as well as more specialized courses such as Art, Music, and Physical Education. Additionally, the Middle School program includes opportunities for students to participate in clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities. The program aims to foster students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills, preparing them for a successful future in high school and beyond.

In summary, while Gimnazjum was a limited program focused primarily on preparing students for high school exams, Middle School at IAS is a comprehensive program that provides students with a broad education, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in high school and beyond.
