Dear IAS Community,

Although the weather changed this week, we have kept the community spirit burning strong with the fantastic House Integration Events organised this week. It was great to see the whole school community active and engaged.

Over the next few weeks, we have some important activities planned. Please have a look at these, particularly the information about the Fall Community Week listed in this bulletin.

Announcements

October Training Day (School Closed)

On the 20th of October there is a staff training day, and the school will be closed. Although this has been on the calendar since the beginning of the year, we wanted to remind all community members.

Fall Community Week

This year we are planning two community weeks, the first of which is coming soon. Community weeks are opportunities to bring all members of our community together. The Fall Community Week will take place from the 13th to 17th of October. The schedule for the week is:

  • Monday 2pm KG & 1st Grade – Open Lesson Family Craft
  • Tuesday – Bake Sale / Teachers’ Day
  • Wednesday 2pm – Fun Run
  • Thursday 2pm 3rd and 4th Grade – Open Lesson Projects Presentations
  • Friday 2pm 2nd Grade – Open Lesson Family Craft

We would like to encourage the active participation of parents in these events. For that reason, we thought it important to let you know about the timings of these events beforehand. The Fun Run is intended to be for parents, students and teachers. More details about this event and the registration for it will be sent out next week.

News

French Guide

If, during your stay in France, Belgium or another French-speaking country, you don’t know how to say hello, respond to “thank you,” or apologize, you won’t have any trouble anymore. Students from grade 6 will come to your aid.

This week they created guides to useful French, which you’ll find in various places around the school. Take a moment and learn a few handy words that can make your life easier.

Game On! Football and Ultimate Frisbee Take Off

September 22nd will be remembered as the day our school started its first football and Ultimate Frisbee training sessions! Students stepped onto the field full of energy and excitement, ready to learn new skills while also enjoying the spirit of teamwork.

The afternoon was more than just practice – it was about connecting, supporting one another, and having fun. If you missed out on the first session, don’t worry – it’s not too late to join! We welcome students from grades 7th through 12, whether you’re an experienced player or just curious to give it a try.

For more details or to sign up, please contact Ms. Marika or Mr. Jan directly. Come and be part of the fun – we can’t wait to see you on the field!

D 12 House Integration Event

The students at D12 were grouped into their new houses with great enthusiasm! In teams across all grade levels the students competed in song writing contest, flag designing, and relay races.

It was a close race, but by a one point difference the Earth team won the day! Will they be able to keep their lead?

D 18 House Integration Event

This past Thursday, D18 students and teachers came together for this school year’s first House event! Divided into our four Houses, Water, Air, Earth, and Fire, (new names this year), everyone jumped into a day of spirited teamwork and friendly competition.

Each House, with the guidance of their teachers, worked together to accomplish a series of tasks and earn points. Their collective creativity was on full display as they came up with unique House names, mascots, chants, and elected their House captains. The day culminated in a special relay race that challenged both muscle and brain memory, with the entire school cheering on their teammates every step of the way.

It was a phenomenal way for everyone to bond in their new Houses and set a high bar for the exciting events to come. Stay tuned for our next House challenge!
