Updated guidance on masks in school.

From Monday, March 28, the requirement to wear masks or face coverings in all enclosed spaces in Poland will be lifted. This marks a significant milestone in the Polish pandemic response. It appears that we are moving into the ‘living with COVID’ section of the pandemic where restrictions will be reserved for times when case numbers threaten to overwhelm the health service.

The specific guidance for schools is unchanged. Students and staff are only required to wear masks when moving through shared areas like hallways, the cafeteria, school buses etc. In classrooms and of course, outdoors, students and staff are no longer required to wear a face mask. The wearing of masks in classrooms may continue based on individual personal preference but cannot be required by staff or the administration. We will continue to review this guidance moving forward.

At this point, we would like to recognize our teachers and support staff who have worked tirelessly throughout these past 2 years in challenging conditions. They have worked online, in-school and both at the same time. Our early years staff have had the most lessons in school even as older classes were moved online. They have grappled with the challenge of encouraging students to remain masked during the school day for the safety of all involved and keeping lessons as normal as possible. We are very proud of the professionalism of all our school staff throughout this pandemic and we wish to thank them for their work throughout this evolving situation.

Introduction to IB and HS diploma programmes

This will be an introduction to the ins and outs of the IBDP and HSDP. There will be an overview of how the programmes work, how to choose your programme, detailing the responsibilities of students toward their learning, and other important items. This meeting is compulsory for all 10th Grade students only and will be held in the cafeteria. Dr. McBride will contact 10th grade parents directly regarding similar parent meetings that will be scheduled at a later date.

IASxTalks

We are delighted to announce a new club is being formed, led by Milena Dederko (co-president) and Aleksandra Iwanczak of 11th grade and supervised by Ethan Ruby

Their goal is to invite TEDx to have a talk at IAS and one of the application requirements is for us to have our own speech and current events club at school. They have already held their introductory meeting but are still welcoming any additional interested members. The focus for meetings will be speechwriting and public speaking practice in a low stress environment.

Anyone 8th grade and above is invited to come along to Room 13 on Thursdays at 15:20 if they would like to learn more

Anyone with questions can write to Milena, Aleksandra, or Mr. Ruby
