News
Between mock exams, university visits and the lunar new year activities it will be a busy time at IAS this week. More details about these activities are below.
I would like to formally welcome two new members of staff. Robert Zatryb will teach German in grades 9 – 12 and already started last week. Mr. Zatryb has spent the 11 years teaching and studying German language in Columbia and in the US and has only recently returned to Poland. As Mr. Stopyra has recently ceased working at IAS for health reasons, Mr Zatryb has also taken over those high school classes.
Christopher Uden will teach Geography in grades 9 – 12 and will start on Monday, February 5th. Indeed, Mr. Uden has worked at IAS before now. He has taught IBDP Geography and History, held the position of vice-principal for 7 years and principal for 3 years. We are fortunate to be able to secure someone with Mr. Uden’s experience and familiarity with IAS to take over seamlessly from Mr. Alvares.
Class schedule:
There have been some adjustments to the high school class schedule to allow Mr. Zatryb to teach all the IBDP German classes. The changes largely affect Grade 9 – 12. Additionally, rooms for Grade 11 and 12 have been adjusted to ensure they are not assigned to the White Building during the mock exams.
As always you can view the class schedule by following the instructions below

D12 January Learner of the Month – Thinker
In kindergarten, Samuel is our most impressive thinker! Samuel makes remarkable associations to things in and out of the classroom and is eager to share these ideas. He asks insightful questions to help him better understand the world around him. Samuel is also working hard on making even stronger connections between his learning and his life. Congratulations Samuel!
In first grade, our thinker of the month is Rithvik. Rithvik thinks carefully about his tasks, and he has many creative ideas. During lessons he makes connections to his life and what he knows. He asks important questions and shares his ideas and thoughts every day. Well done, Rithvik!
Dhrushil puts a lot of thought into his work. He takes time to think and plan the stories that we write. In our discussions, he asks questions which show that he has put a lot of thinking into the topic at hand. He also remembers what we learn and can use and apply this knowledge.
Nivaan pays careful attention to his work. He always thinks and plans out properly before starting an assignment and takes his time throughout the activity, using what he knows to properly complete activities. He shares his knowledge and asks thoughtful questions when we are learning.
