European Universities Consortium (EUC) visit
The European Universities Consortium (EUC) is a group of 7 universities around Europe and they visited IAS for a mini-university fair on Wednesday. Students heard presentations of each of the universities in the consortium and also had the opportunity to speak directly with representatives of the universities afterwards. The meeting was attended by students in grades 10-12 and proved to be well received by all. If students wish to investigate their options for 3rd level education further, they may contact Ms. Elyssa Winzeler for a consultation.
Lunar New Year at IAS
Lunar New Year was celebrated across IAS on Friday.
Under the guidance of Ms. Hanna Klimuk, students had been preparing a spectacular event! So finally, on the morning of February 9, Jiang Qiongsi (G11), Ling Long, and Shen Xin (G12) presented to D18 students in grades 5-10 about the Lunar New Year. The insightful, educational presentation taught students about traditional foods, symbols, and customs related to this special holiday. Winners of the quiz were given a special prize and were tested on saying a typical new year phrase.
In the afternoon, D18 students joined those high schoolers and went to D12 for further spread the new year cheer! These students included: Li Junhan, Peng Yang, Shuxuan, Yu Ling (G7), Pan Zhe Yuan, and Tianru Zhou (G8). D12 students colored while they listened to their older peers read new year’s books. Notably, students did a dragon dance in a 3D dragon created by students in classes with their art teachers Mr. Richard Edmunds (D18) and Ms. Gosia Sypniewska (D12). Thank you to teachers and students for a one-of-a-kind event! Hopefully it will inspire further cultural events like this! D12 students also worked hard to create beautiful crafts, such as lanterns and masks. Afterwards, the students participated in house competitions, pinning the tail on the dragon and showcasing their chopstick skills in a race! We had a fantastic time! Happy Lunar New Year!
Grade 5 & 6 Diorama project
The 5th and 6th grade have recently completed a group project in their art classes. Students cooperatively created dioramas of different biomes. They included various terrains, textures, animals, and topography. Enjoy their creativity!
