Dear students,
As we kick off the second semester, the administration would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new students joining the IAS community this week, and to welcome back our current students after the winter break.
We hope that you had a restful and enjoyable break, whether you traveled for leisure, visited family, or stayed at home to catch up on assignments. As you return to campus tomorrow, we encourage you to take some time to reflect on your personal and academic goals for the upcoming semester.
Remember that your time here is not only an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills, but also to explore your passions, make new friends, and grow as an individual. We are excited to see what you will accomplish in the months ahead and wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors.
News
New teachers
The 10th Grade French class will be divided into an intermediate group and a beginner group. The beginner group will continue to be taught by Ms. Barbara Gołębiowska. Students will be assessed this week and assigned to the appropriate section.
The school has hired Mr. Maciej Szyszkowski to teach the intermediate French group in 10th Grade and the French B group in 11th Grade.
Ms. Karuna Finch will teach IB lessons only for the remainder of the school year. We are close to agreeing terms with the replacement teacher for Grades 9 – 10 Chemistry. However, we have arranged for a full-time sub so that these lessons can continue uninterrupted.
The IAS TEDx club is not affected.
100th Day of School (D12)
On the last day of school before the break, D12 students celebrated their 100th day of school by dressing up as 100 year old people!
Ice Skating at Tor Stegny (D18)
For the last day of school before the break, D18 students made the journey to Tor Stegny for the annual ice skating trip. For many students it was their first time on the ice but with the assistance of their friends and teachers, they will have taken their first steps towards becoming pros!
D12 Student of the Month – Knowledgeable
In 4th grade we want to recognize Alan and Artur Paziewscy for being the most knowledgeable students. They are always willing to share their knowledge during class discussions. They have additional facts for us about a lot of topics related to Science and Social Studies. Their input makes the lessons more interesting and is beneficial for other students.
The student chosen as knowledgeable in 3rd grade is one who always knows additional information about almost every topic that we learn about and discuss in class. He is always excited to share his knowledge with the class and the information often adds a lot to the conversations. Well done, Caspian Farrales!
In second grade, we are proud to recognize Pham Tran Minh Khang (Alex) for being knowledgeable! Alex is always excited to learn new things and add to his current wealth of knowledge. He frequently shares many additional pieces of information with the class during conversations and discussions and is always looking to explore new topics. Alex holds a wealth of knowledge regarding a large variety of topics and the information he shares never fails to make our lessons more interesting. Congratulations, Alex!
In first grade, we are proud to announce Dhrushil Chauhan for being our most knowledgeable student. Dhrushil really enjoys learning new things. He also often shares interesting facts about what he already knows with the class. Dhrushil makes connections to his own life and experiences and is always an active participant in class discussions! Well done, Dhrushil!
In Kindergarten, we had arrived at the conclusion that being Knowledgeable means exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. We also decided that a crucial part of being a Knowledgeable student is sharing your knowledge with others. In our class there is one person who truly stands out with their aptitude for learning, their ease remembering new facts and understanding new concepts, and their willingness to share the newfound wisdom with others. Thus, the student of the month in Kindergarten, our most Knowledgeable learner, is Oliwia Prowotorowa. Congratulations Oliwia!
