News
We hope you have had a relaxing break whether you spent it in Poland or abroad. While semester 2 formally started on January 3rd, the real momentum starts to build from now on now that the winter break is over.
With regret, I must formally announce that Alejandro Alvarez and Edyta Dzierzbicka will leave IAS Warsaw on January 29 and 31 respectively. We thank them for their hard work and dedication to the IAS community.
At the time of writing, the administration is finalising the contracts with candidates to fill these positions. The new Geography teacher should start on February 5th and the new German teacher is planning to start on Tuesday, all going well.
The school is also conducting an in-depth review of its academic programs in Grades 6 – 10 during the current school year. As a consequence of this review, the ISA exam will not go ahead this Spring and a new assessment will be announced at the beginning of the 2024/25 school year. This will not affect the progress of any IAS student as it was for internal use only.
The Semester 1 PT meetings took place in January. If any parents missed the meetings or the reports, please get in touch with teachers asap. Now is an excellent time to take corrective steps.
Our student council has been quite active during the first semester but as demands of their High School classes increase, many a student council president has struggled to keep all of their promises. Our class presidents play an important role in holding the presidents accountable and are the voice of their classes. We hope to see them work together to ensure that the 2nd semester is as active as the 1st.
Lastly, we would like to update you on important points of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Firstly, for our M24 (Grade 12) students, the May 2024 exams are approaching. They start on 24th April. Concurrently, our M25 (Grade 11) students are actively involved in Extended Essay and Internal Assessments as well as fulfilling Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) requirements. Additionally, we would like to highlight that the final exams for M25 will be conducted as mini mocks, providing students with a valuable opportunity to familiarize themselves with the examination format and conditions. Let’s join together to support our students as they embark on this difficult but commendable journey!
Yours sincerely,
IAS Administration
