D12 February Learner of the Month. Balanced

Guhan (Kg) is an excellent example of a balanced person and balanced learner. When it is time to work and learn, Guhan focuses all his energy on paying attention to the lessons and completing his work to the best of his abilities. When it is time to play and relax, Guhan can always find a friend (or make a new friend) to have a good time with. Guhan also eats a well-balanced diet of healthy meals with an occasional treat. Good job, Guhan!

This month we chose Hyshika as the most balanced first grade student. Hyshika is very motivated and focused on her learning, but she also knows when it is time to take a break. During play time she is able to have fun, but is also ready to learn when lesson time starts again. Hyshika makes an effort in all classes including specials, as well. Well done, Hyshika!

Tymek (Grade 2) does his best to keep balance between school and fun. He is always prepared for lessons, always has his homework done, and is prepared for spelling tests. He also finds time for regular football practices and often talks about spending time with friends on weekends.

Nimisha (Grade 3) understands the importance of balance in her life. She works hard to meet all of her needs to live a healthy and happy life every day. She eats healthy snacks; she works hard in school on her academics, and she does extracurricular activities for her well-being like dance.

In 4th grade, Tommy is very balanced! When it is time to work, Tommy is extremely focused on his given task. He completes his work in a timely and dedicated manner. When it is time to play, Tommy is also able to play with his friends and have a good time. He can separate the work and play aspects of his life in a way that is very healthy. He does his best to live a healthy lifestyle and is a good example for others of how to be balanced. Congratulations, Tommy!

We would like to congratulate our first-grade teacher, Miss Veronica, as our balanced Educator of the Month! Miss Veronica understands the need for balance in life and works to instill a similar outlook in her students. She runs a yoga & mindfulness club at D12 during which the students learn to view themselves in a positive light. Students at D12 frequently recite the phrase she has taught them: Peace begins with me. Miss Veronica also balances her lessons through a combination of movement, visual, and auditory input. Congratulations, Miss Veronica!

D12 Art Award

We would like to congratulate Darya (G2) for winning the D12 Art Award! Our art teacher, Miss Gosia, has the following message regarding Darya’s unique art abilities and positive attitude:

Many D12 students are very involved in artwork. I like that very much, and I would like everyone to enjoy art! I would like to recognize Darya for her work in art class. Darya is always eager to complete tasks and is very careful and thorough. She is always willing to try new types of art. She always puts her work first, before play. Darya is very persistent and despite any difficulties that may arise, she tries to do everything as well as possible. She is a left-handed person and uses objects adapted for right-handed people, such as scissors. That is very difficult to do. She always keeps a positive attitude during art. Congratulations, Darya, well done!

D12 Art workshops

On Friday, March 1st, D12 students participated in various art workshops! Kg students made soap, choosing their own molds and cutting up different sticks to create unique color combinations. Students in grades 1 & 2 made candles. They carefully selected and poured different colored sand and decorations to create an individual candle! 3rd and 4th graders designed eco-friendly bags! The students had the opportunity to plan their designs and create bags that are unique to them and their interests. All D12 students had a blast creating their own special types of art! We are very proud of them!
