Yearbook photos for the each D18 Class of 2024 will take place on March 14 and 20. All students and staff will have the opportunity to have an individual photo taken. Class photos will be taken outside and individual photos will be taken indoors. Although a photo schedule will be shared with students if the weather is good, we may prioritize completing group photos on the March 14 so all students should attend school ready to be photographed on each day.
IB Info week
This week our students from grades 10A and 10B will participate in the IB Week. They will learn the nuts and bolts of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme as well as participate in mini-lessons prepared by our experienced IB staff. Hopefully, after the week they will be fully prepared to select their subjects for their DP programme. Those will need to be made by 15th April.
D12 Dance Skills
At D12, we would like to recognize our first-grade student Liza for her exceptional dance skills!
Liza started dancing at the age of 4, and after 3 months she had already taken part in the first competition, had her first performance, won her first medal and her first cup. Those were the first steps she took in the world of dance!
This year, Liza took part in the “Mini Kids” category competition with the dance “Cruella I Dalmatynczycy.” Her dance team took 1st place and received a gold medal! Liza has won 6 medals, and she continues her journey in dancing.
We are very proud of you, Liza! Keep dancing!
After school clubs
Our staff run a variety of after-school clubs in both buildings, and it is high time we shared them with our wider community. After-school clubs will be featured in the bulletin for the next three weeks. This week we focus on some of the Wednesday clubs in D18.
Art Club – Mr. Edmunds and Mr. Uden
After some fantastic work on Perspective Drawing, IAS students have turned their attention to the Easter Celebration. The Art Club, along with D12 students, have developed and perfected some ideas for Easter decorations, which will be rolled out to the timetabled Art classes over the coming weeks. The theme for this year is Eggs, which is traditionally a symbol of “new life”.
Boardgames Club – Ms. Delesvaux and Mr. Zatryb
Boardgames club welcome all the students who want to work on their social and collaborative skills. There is sometimes a bit of problem-solving when it comes to understand the instructions of a game in Polish or re-explain the rules of a game to others. There is plenty of choice for boardgames and you can even bring a game from home to share a good moment with your friends and get to know students from other grades.
Drama and Dance Club – Ms. Mieszczańska and Mr. Zieliński
This year, the Drama and Dance Club has managed to boost Dante Alighieri’s profile by adapting parts of the Divine Comedy and turning it into a dancical. Both divisions of the club have shown otherworldy strength of their collaborative spirit. Passionate performances and unmatched elegance are bound to result in multiple Hollywood Walk of Fame stars. Currently, the club is working on their graduation ceremony dance showcase. We can’t disclose any details yet, but be sure that it will be a memorable display of precision, artistic expression, and flips.
Walking Club – Ms. Tymińska and Mr. Krawczyk
This club is dedicated to the students who want to boost their energy, clear their heads, reduce stress, and spend some enjoyable time actively after the long day of studying. This club is open to every student so every week a different team goes for a walk there. We walk in the area near school no matter what the weather is like. Sometimes we go to the playground and sometimes we admire the nature around us.
Football Club – Mr. O’Keeffe and Mr. Dolenz
Football club is consistently popular and is limited only by the weather, although our students would certainly play in inclement conditions if they could. However, the weather is now improving and interest in the club is now growing. Soon we will organize a Spring football tournament to add a little bit of healthy competition to the games. Suitable for all ages.
