 News

After the middle school green school and the May break, we are coming back for a more normal week of school although there is still quite a lot going on. There are trips planned for D12 and D18 and a long awaited friendly football match at TBS.

The IBDP exams are continuing, and we must all do our bit to keep the D18 building as quiet as possible. With that in mind, afterschool clubs are cancelled this week as some exams will continue past 3PM.

Middle school green school April 22-26

Dear IAS Community,
I am pleased to announce the success of the recent green school trip for grades 5-8. Everyone exhibited good behavior over the 5 full days as we made incredible, lifelong memories. All the teachers, including Ms. Solenn, Mr. Aydin, Mr. Kyle, and me, are very proud of what the students accomplished over the week. We are particularly proud of the students for whom it was the first time away from their families.

Even though we were not in IAS classrooms last week, many lessons were learned. There were lessons in patience, perseverance, budgeting, empathy, friendship, cooperation, ecology, flexibility, confidence, self-awareness, problem solving, and leadership. Activities included: navigating a rope park, amber related activities including a nighttime search using UV light, sightseeing in the old town of Gdańsk, visiting the Dar Pomorza and the Sopot Pier, sailing around the Port of Gdańsk to the Westerplatte, igniting memories around a campfire, playing games in the hotel’s game room, exploring Malbork Castle, and of course many trips to Żabka for snacks! Despite one day of clouds and rain, the rest of the week was filled with sunshine.

In summary, I want to extend my gratitude to those who attended and assisted in organizing this trip. Throughout the week, everyone we encountered saw our strong community spirit which was always paired with laughter and hundreds of smiles.

Sincerely,

Ms. Melissa
