Exams, exams, exams. Three levels of exam sessions are scheduled for this week. The IBDP exams are continuing, the HSDP exams will start, and the annual 8th Grade Polish program exams will run from Tuesday to Thursday. I’m pleased to say that Dembego 18 students, staff and visitors have shown tremendous support throughout the IBDP exams thus far. Let’s continue to continue to work together to ensure our exam students have a distraction-free testing environment.
Lalka Theatre trip
On April 18th, the 9th Grade Creative Performance class went to the Lalka Theatre, to see an adaptation of the Odyssey. The play was wonderfully creative, with many interesting effects.
After the play, one of the actresses from the play took us on a tour of the theatre. First she talked about acting and what is needed to create a good puppet theatre. Then she showed us the backstage; the dressing room, the puppet making workshop, and the scenery making workshop. Next, we went back into the house of the theatre, where she showed us different types of puppets and how to use them. She also gave us hints on how to make some of these puppets. This gave the students a lot of ideas for their own puppet shows. Last quarter, the 9th Graders researched puppets from around the world and then started writing their own puppet theatre shows, which they will perform for the small school, as their final project!
Beekeeper workshop
On Monday D12 had a special visit from the beekeeper! The kids learned all about bees, beehives and the tools used by the beekeeper.
Kg – G2 trip
On Wednesday, Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students embarked on an exciting adventure to Wioska Pod Kogutem for the Green School Day Out. They had the opportunity to observe a diverse range of animals and gained valuable knowledge about them. In the afternoon, they engaged in a hands-on activity where they learned how to make butter from scratch.
Football
The British School of Warsaw (TBS) may have underestimated our High School football team, as they fielded a rather young reserve team. Nonetheless, we secured a comfortable victory, albeit somewhat anticlimactically. Looking ahead, we are hopeful that a rematch can be arranged before the end of the year, ensuring a more balanced competition for all involved. A big thank you to all the supporters who made the trip, and to Mr. Karl for his tireless efforts as coach.
After the middle school green school and the May break, we are coming back for a more normal week of school although there is still quite a lot going on. There are trips planned for D12 and D18 and a long awaited friendly football match at TBS.
The IBDP exams are continuing, and we must all do our bit to keep the D18 building as quiet as possible. With that in mind, afterschool clubs are cancelled this week as some exams will continue past 3PM.
