IAS Bulletin November 21 – 25, 2022 

News 

Szlachetna Paczka 

Every year during the Holiday season, IAS participates in a suitable charity initiative. This year, we will support the Poland-wide action called Szlachetna Paczka (A noble package). We chose a family that is in a particularly difficult situation and we will do our best to make packages with items they need to give a relief to their budget.  

This year we will help a family of refugees: Mr. Elmir and his wife Simran and their 3 sons: Raul, Murad and Samir aged 13, 12 and 6. The family arrived to Poland escaping the war and political discrimination. In Poland Mr. Elmir worked at a construction site, which caused him a serious spine damage, so he is unable to work now. His wife, with her factory job of 12 hours a day is now the only bread-winner for the family.  

They would be very grateful for help with getting winter coats, supplies of non-perishable food and cleaning products. We will collect money and buy the necessary products.

High School football tournament 

Mr. Alvarez has selected 10 of our High School students to represent IAS at a local football tournament. These students have been rigorously every Tuesday for the last 2 months and this will be their first competitive games of the year. We wish them luck and they will certainly gain a lot from the experience.

Teacher professional development 23.11 (School closes at 12:30) 

On November 23rd, IAS will be conducting professional development trainings for its staff in the afternoon, from 12:30 – 4pm. A second afternoon training session has been scheduled for the spring term, on March 24th. 

These professional development sessions take place on an annual basis. The building specific arrangements are outlined below. 

Dembego 12:  

• Classes end 4th period 

• School lunch provided and finishing at 12:30 
• Buses home at 12:30 
• Swietlica OPEN from 12:30 – 15:30 

Dembego 18: 

• Classes end 4th period 

• School lunch provided and finishing at 12:30 
• Buses home at 12:30 
• School closed to students at 13:00 

PT meetings 

A big thank you to all the parents that set up meetings with teachers and administrators over the last 2 weeks. If you didn’t manage to meet with a teacher, please send them an email and set up a meeting at a mutually suitable time. All emails are listed below.

23rd November: School closes from 12:30 to allow for teacher training in the afternoon 

24th – 25th November: School closed for Thanksgiving 

16th December: School closed from 12:30 on last day before Christmas 

19th – 30th December: Christmas vacation (School closed) 

6th January: Three Kings holiday (School closed)
