International Women’s Day 

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements, as well as a call to action for gender equality. It’s a day to recognize the immense contributions that women have made to society, and to acknowledge the ongoing struggles they face in the fight for gender parity. 

 

On this Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in all walks of life, from the activists and leaders who have fought for women’s rights, to the scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs who have changed the world through their work. And having conversations about these issues in our classrooms, staffrooms, and homes can be a great way to raise awareness and promote gender parity. 

 

Holi 

Holi is a widely celebrated Hindu festival that celebrates spring, love, and new life. Some families hold religious ceremonies, but for many Holi is more a time for fun. It’s a colorful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of powder paint and colored water. Holi is also known as the “festival of colors” We’re sure your classmates can tell you more! 

 

News 

 

New teachers 

 

Mitchell Welle will teach 10B English from March 6th taking over from Ms. Winzeler so that she will have more time for her administrative duties. 

 

 

Ms. Jonaver Rebite will teach 9th and 10th Grade Chemistry from March 13th. She will take over from Ms. Karuna Finch. For this week, these lessons will continue to be supervised by Mr. O’Keeffe. 

 

 

  

10th Grade Art trip 

 

On Thursday February 9th Grades 10B and 9th Polish visited the National Museum in Warsaw to see the exhibition “SOLSTICE (PRZESILENIE). NORDIC PAINTING 1880–1910”. This temporary show features works by artists from Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark and Finland from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Exhibition’s title references the Summer Solstice (Midsommar), a time of year of particular importance in Scandinavian culture, rich in traditions connected with natural phenomena and light. The present fashion for Scandinavian lifestyle, design and literature is just another impetus for international audiences to learn about fine art from the North. The trip was organised by Małgorzata Wesolowska and Elżbieta Wolak-Lachowicz.
