Clubs and activities

Wednesday afternoon is protected. Clubs run after school until 16:00, which means the time sits inside the timetable and not in the gaps around it, and a child who wants to try something is not choosing between that and getting home.

The lineup changes every year. It is built from what students ask for, so a club that half the school wants tends to appear, and one nobody signed up for quietly does not come back. That makes the list impossible to print permanently on a website, which is why the office holds the current one.

The IAS Times

The school’s student newspaper is one of the standing clubs. Founded in 2008, it is written and produced by students with a senior editing team, and it covers school life, opinion, sport and the arts. For a student who writes, it is the difference between keeping a document and being published.

The Noise Makers, from September 2026

IAS is working with The Noise Makers, an arts and emotional education academy, to widen what students can take up after lessons. Classes run both in groups and one to one, which matters for an instrument or a voice.

Four strands are on offer. Music covers vocal training, instruments, choir, band, orchestra and music production. Visual arts covers painting, drawing, comics, caricature, photography and film. Performance and writing covers acting, musical theatre, and creative writing across books, journals, storytelling and screenwriting. Emotional education covers emotional regulation, sensory development, relaxation, yoga, breathing, concentration and mindfulness.
