A doctor or nurse is on duty every school day from 11:00 to 15:00, and a psychologist is in school twice a week.
Most of what a school nurse does is unglamorous and quietly important: a grazed knee, a headache in period four, a child who needs their medication at the same time every day, and the record that says which one.
A doctor or nurse is on duty every school day from 11:00 to 15:00. The medical office is on the top floor, to the left of the stairs. They keep the medical records for every student in the school, and they handle the necessary vaccinations and immunisations, or bring them to your attention if something is due.
Talking to somebody
A psychologist is in school twice a week and sees students about developmental or psychological concerns. Private conferences are generally arranged during those hours. Not every reason to visit is a crisis, and students are not asked to justify wanting to talk to someone.
Alongside that, every student has two homeroom teachers and access to the School Counsellor, so there is more than one adult whose job includes noticing when a child is not themselves.
What the school needs from you
If your family is new to Poland, the school needs current medical records for its files, including vaccination records. Bring them with the application if you can, because chasing them across a border afterwards is slower than it sounds.
If your child has a condition the school should know about, tell the administration in advance, not on the day it matters.
That is the one request the medical team would make of every parent. An allergy, a chronic condition, a medication schedule, a recent injury: the nurse reading the file in a hurry can only act on what is in it. Let the office know when something changes, and the record stays useful.
