The format
What Model UN is.
A simulation of real UN meetings. Students take the role of diplomats, represent a country, debate a topic on the international agenda and work towards a written resolution.
Secretariat
The organising team. At IASMUN that is the group of IB Diploma and MYP students at IAS who run the conference.
Chairs
Moderate the debate inside each committee.
Delegates
Represent the country assigned to them.
Pages
Volunteers handling logistics, communication and on-site support during sessions.
About
Second edition, and twice the size.
The first edition brought together 100 delegates. This year the conference opens to 200 across eight committees. The Secretariat is made up of IB Diploma and MYP students at IAS, working with chairs and partners across Poland and abroad.
Theme: Maintaining Global Security in a New World Order
The theme is rooted in Article 1 of the UN Charter. Political and economic instability, armed conflict, terrorism and climate crises are reshaping the international order, and committees will work on resolutions that respond to that reality.
Mission
IASMUN exists to give students room to think through real international problems, write clear positions, and defend them in front of their peers. The conference is academic in standard and run by students who have done MUN themselves.

Skills that outlast the weekend
Public speaking, argumentation and negotiation, practised in committee. Working knowledge of the issues your assigned country deals with. How international cooperation works in practice, including where it breaks down.
Social programme
An official evening event for delegates from Polish IB schools, international schools and other countries. Coffee and lunch breaks are part of it.
Awards and certificates
Every delegate receives a certificate of participation. The top three delegates in each committee receive an award.
On a university application
MUN participation, especially with an award, is something universities recognise.
Guest speakers
The opening ceremony includes ambassadors and other invited speakers.

Preparation
What to do before November.
The Study Guide
Each committee chair publishes one. It frames the agenda, summarises the situation and lists research questions. Start there.
Country research
Cover the basics: location, recent history, national interests, government structure, economic position. Identify likely allies and rivals, and read what your country has said and done on the topic. Useful sources are the BBC Country Profiles, the UN website, and the foreign ministry of the country you represent.
Position paper
One to two pages: your country’s stance, its relevant past actions such as treaties, resolutions and statements, and proposed solutions. The solutions section carries the most weight. Include a short bibliography.
Opening speech
About 90 seconds, delivered in the first session during the General Speakers’ List. Hook, main argument, call to action. A clear opening helps you find allies before bloc work begins.
Documents. A Consent Form and Terms and Conditions are required before the conference. Both are sent by the Secretariat once registration is confirmed.

Registration
Apply through MyMUN. After the deadline, candidates receive a follow-up form to schedule an interview, held online with the core Secretariat. Results are sent once interviews close.
Rules of Procedure
Sent to chairs after assignment. Chairs apply them in committee.
Best Chair award
One chair receives it at the end of the conference. The decision draws on Secretariat review and delegate feedback, weighing Study Guide quality, deadline discipline and preparedness in committee.
The team
The Secretariat.
Ten students run this conference. Nine are at IAS, and one chairs the General Assembly from II High School in Białystok.
Sofia is an IBDP student at IAS. She manages the Secretariat, the whole process of organising the MUN, and the conference itself. Outside MUN she is passionate about history and international affairs, and enjoys reading and travelling.
Aysha is an IBDP student at IAS, responsible for coordinating logistics and overseeing operations. Her interests sit between leadership and sport: football, reading, and watching content across genres.
Pola is an IBDP student taking four higher levels at II High School in Białystok. She chairs General Assembly sessions and supports the procedural running of the conference.
Adiya is an MYP student at IAS. She supports the Secretary General and the wider administration of the organisation. Outside school she is enthusiastic about art, fashion, film and TV, and her hobbies are drawing and cooking.
Arsh is an IBDP student at IAS, responsible for all conference logistics. He has been contacting universities and conference halls to find the most suitable venue, working closely with the Director and Secretary General. He enjoys badminton, cycling and travelling.
Antonina is a first-year IBDP student at IAS. She coordinates pages, photographers and the operational team that keeps every part of IASMUN running. Outside MUN she is interested in film and cinema, and enjoys baking, travelling and music.
Antonina is an IBDP student at IAS. She contacts and secures patrons, partners and guest speakers, driving the conference’s visibility and outreach. Outside school she enjoys music, reading and writing, sport, and flying gliders.
Ulyana is an IBDP student at IAS, responsible for the visual identity of the conference including the MyMUN page, social media and supporting materials. Her interests beyond MUN include art, psychology, language learning and travelling.
Daria is an IBDP student at IAS. As Head of Social Media she develops creative ideas that enrich our social media platforms and attract audiences to the conference. Through engaging reels, posts and other campaigns she showcases the beauty and excitement of the conference. In her free time Daria explores various forms of art, including digital and classical art. She also takes part in athletic activities and enjoys learning and experimenting with the culinary arts.
Yukta is an MYP student at IAS. She works to ensure an organised and welcoming experience for delegates while contributing to the smooth running of the conference. Beyond MUN, Yukta enjoys singing, dancing and baking.

It is our greatest pleasure to welcome you to the second edition of International American School Model United Nations, set to take place from November 20 to November 22 in Warsaw, the capital and heart of Poland. Despite being quite a young conference, IASMUN strives to provide a valuable and meaningful experience for all of its participants by bringing innovation and new perspectives into the MUN world.
Our core principle is to ensure that young people are provided with a platform where their voices are heard and where they can develop the skills to enter the dynamic world of international relations and politics. Model UN conference helps youth to form connections, become closer and collaborate to find solutions to pressing global issues, encouraging youth civic engagement and shaping the leaders our world needs.
This edition’s theme “Maintaining Global Security in a New World Order” serves as a foundation for the entire conference, as discussions will center around agendas reflecting this particularly relevant topic. As we live in an increasingly turbulent world, it is essential to explore how global security can be preserved under the pressures of contemporary threats while upholding fundamental principles of international law.
With this vision in mind, we, the Secretariat, have been working devotedly over the past months to prepare IASMUN for our delegates, putting every effort into making sure that every participant will have the opportunity to realize their full potential and create lasting memories at the conference, while gaining valuable lessons from their IASMUN experience.
