IB Diploma results
The IB Diploma is examined externally and graded on the same scale everywhere in the world, which makes it one of the few school qualifications you can compare honestly between countries. This page records how students at IAS have performed, and is updated after each May session.

The subject grade is the figure worth pausing on. A diploma score can be lifted by a few strong candidates; the average subject grade reflects how the whole cohort performed across every subject entered. At 5.36 against a world average of 4.97, the difference holds right across the group.
What a score of 34 means in practice
Universities set their own entry requirements, so there is no single threshold. As a rough guide, competitive courses in the United Kingdom commonly ask for somewhere between 32 and 38 points, and many continental European universities publish requirements in a similar band. A student holding 34 points is in the range those courses consider.
We publish the average rather than only the highest score because the average is what tells a parent how a typical student does here, and that is the more useful number when you are choosing a school.
Context you should ask any school for
Results are easier to read when you know the size and shape of the group behind them. When comparing schools, it is worth asking each one:
- How many students sat the diploma, not only what the average was
- Whether the school enters all eligible students or only those predicted to do well
- The average subject grade as well as the diploma total
- How many students took the full diploma rather than individual certificates
IAS enters students who are working toward the full diploma, and the figures above cover that cohort.
The Diploma Programme at IAS
IAS has been an authorised IB World School for the Diploma Programme since 2006. The programme runs in Grades 11 and 12 and sits alongside two other routes at the same school: the American High School Diploma, accredited by Cognia, and the Polish Matura, under the Polish Ministry of Education. A student does not have to change schools to change direction.
The Middle School is a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme. Candidate status is a stage in the IB authorisation process and does not mean that authorisation has been granted.

Questions families ask about IB results
Is 34 a good IB score?
It is above the worldwide average, which was approximately 30.6 in the May 2026 session. Whether it is sufficient depends entirely on the course and university a student is applying to, which is why our college counselling starts well before the final year.
Do you publish results every year?
Yes. This page is updated after each May session, so it holds the current figures and not a single year’s news item.
Can my child take the IB if they join late?
The Diploma Programme is a two-year course beginning in Grade 11, so joining partway through Grade 12 is not usually workable. Entry into Grade 11 is possible subject to availability and prior schooling. The American Diploma route is more flexible for students arriving later.
What if my child is stronger in some subjects than others?
The diploma requires six subjects, three at higher level, plus Theory of Knowledge, an extended essay and creativity, activity and service. Students who are strongly specialised sometimes suit the American Diploma or individual IB certificates better. That conversation happens with families before Grade 11, not after.
