Join the International American School of Warsaw in Term 2

Term 2 of 2026/27 starts in February 2027, after the winter holiday, and applications are open now for families moving to Warsaw and for families changing school during the year.

Places depend on your child’s grade and the majority of classes fill up, so talk to admissions early.

Who this is for

Families who do not want to wait for September

Moving to Warsaw

A new job or posting brings the family here in the new year, and you can start the conversation from abroad, before you have a Polish address or a confirmed moving date.

Changing school in Warsaw

Your child is at another school and you want to move during the year, so tell us the current grade and when you would like the change to happen.

Embassy and company families

Organisations moving staff can arrange this with the school directly. See corporate and diplomatic families.

How it works

What a February start means

Your child joins their year group halfway through the school year.

Which grade

IAS places children by age on 1 September of the school year. A February start belongs to 2026/27, so the same rule applies. Placement also takes account of prior schooling, language and any additional needs, and a child arriving from another system is not automatically put back a year. The grade calculator shows the likely grade in a few seconds.

Which building

Kindergarten to Grade 5 are at Dembego 12. Grades 6 to 12 are at Dembego 18, a short walk away, and both buildings are five minutes from Metro Kabaty.

English and EAL

Lessons are in English. If your child is still learning it, the EAL team assesses their level, and support depends on that level. EAL is a paid programme.

Grades 11 and 12

The IB Diploma Programme runs through Grades 11 and 12, so students usually begin it at the start of Grade 11. A student who joins later, or in Grade 12, can sometimes continue an IB Diploma begun at another IB school, or can work towards the American High School Diploma. Admissions will talk through the right route with you.

The first weeks

During admissions we talk through your child’s previous programme, the support they need and their first days in class. Starting at IAS covers the school day, food and getting here.

The application

Six steps, in order

Apply in November or December if you can. That leaves time for the records, the conversation and the decision before the holidays.

01

Apply online

Fill in the application form and enter the date you hope to start. Brothers and sisters go in the same form, under More children.

Open the application form

02

Send the records

Attach certificates and transcripts from the last two years to the form, or email them to [email protected]. A recommendation letter from a Principal or teacher is required at this stage. Apply Now has the full list.

03

Sign the agreement

The IAS Educational Agreement is at the bottom of the application page.

04

We review it

Admissions reviews the application, talks with your family, online if you are still abroad, and comes back to you once a decision has been made.

05

Secure the place

Pay the enrolment fee to hold the place. It is 4,000 PLN a year and non-refundable.

06

Welcome to IAS

A welcome letter follows, and you are added to the school mailing list.

Fees

How fees work when your child joins mid-year

Tuition
Families who join during the year have the fee divided into monthly payments from the month their child starts. Payment is due by the 10th of each month.
Your exact figure
The total for a part year is set by the office, so please ask for it. The fees page has the 2026/27 fees by grade and a calculator.
Enrolment fee
4,000 PLN a year, non-refundable. It secures the place.
EAL
Charged per term on top of tuition. If a child joins later in the year, the invoice is adjusted and you are charged only for lessons held.
Discounts
Discounts do not add together: a family takes the single option it qualifies for. See the discount policy.

Questions

What families ask about a Term 2 start

When does Term 2 start?

In February 2027, after the winter holiday, which runs from 30 January to 14 February. Admissions confirms your child’s first day with you.

Is it too late to apply for 2026/27?

No. We review applications throughout the year. Places depend on your child’s grade.

Can my child start before February?

Ask admissions, with the date you have in mind. A start during a term depends on a place in your child’s grade.

What happens if the class is full?

Your child can be placed on the waiting list once the enrolment fee has been paid. Ask admissions about the waiting list and the enrolment fee conditions before making a payment.

Can we apply from abroad?

Yes. You can begin before you have a Polish address or a confirmed moving date, and the conversation with admissions can happen online.

Will my child lose a year?

Not automatically. Placement takes account of age, prior schooling, language and any additional needs, so a child arriving from another system is not simply put back a year.
