IAS Community Week was a tremendous success for all the classes involved. It was truly wonderful to see so many of our students’ family members join us in school this week. Hosting you at the various events we organized was a genuine pleasure, and your presence made a meaningful difference for our students. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making these moments so joyful and memorable.

I’d also like to extend my deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff members who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of these events. Special thanks go to Iwona Piecyk, Sarah Pawlak, Celine Rafferty, Julia Anderko, Nancy Arokiamary, Jagoda Danieluk, Beata Bilos, and Sylwia Bolikowska for their outstanding efforts in planning and delivering such fantastic experiences for our community.

Mini Mock Exams – Starting Monday

The time has come for our Grade 11 students to test their mettle. The mini mock session begins on Monday and includes a series of subject exams designed to provide valuable feedback for both students and teachers.

We wish all our students the very best — good luck!

IAS Community Week

5th Grade – Biome Project

Our Grade 5 students brought imagination, teamwork, and community spirit to life during their Biome Box project! Families joined their children to design and build miniature ecosystems—from tropical rainforest to desert, tundra, and coral reef.

Working together, students crafted clay animals, paper foliage, and vibrant landscapes while explaining their biome’s unique features. Each project showcased not only scientific learning but also the power of collaboration.

Grades K & 1 – Picture Frames Activity

On Tuesday afternoon, the Kindergarten and First Grade families eagerly joined together to create popsicle stick picture frames. Students brought in favourite family photos, painted popsicle sticks, and assembled their frames alongside parents and siblings. We were very glad to have the opportunity to revisit previous memories while creating lasting new ones.

On Wednesday, our grade 2 community week celebration was overwhelming with joy and laughter; it was a delight to see parents work with their children creating beautiful artistic candle stands and flower vases.

Children enjoyed this memorable time with their parents and carried their creations with care and pride.

Grade 11 TOK Exhibition: A Celebration of Knowledge in Action

On Thursday, 29 May 2025, the Grade 11 Theory of Knowledge (TOK) students at IAS proudly presented their TOK Exhibition—a culmination of months of critical thinking, exploration, and intellectual inquiry. The event began with a warm welcome and introduction by Ines Borjon Vallego, representing the cohort of 11th-grade students.

Parents, teachers, school administrators, and students from Grades 7 to 10 attended the exhibition, engaging with the diverse array of posters displayed throughout the White Building. Each poster showcased a student’s personal response to one of the TOK prompts, such as “What counts as knowledge?” and “Are some types of knowledge more useful than others?” Drawing on three selected objects, students explained how knowledge is represented in the world around us and how it shapes, and is shaped by, context, perspective, and experience.

The atmosphere was lively and engaging, with students confidently standing by their displays, explaining the reasoning behind their chosen objects and answering questions from visitors.

The response from the parent community was overwhelmingly positive. One parent remarked:

“It was a truly fascinating and inspiring experience… These students managed to explain complex ideas about knowledge and reality in such a clear and intelligent way. Their critical thinking allowed them to grasp the essential reality of what they were examining, while also reflecting on the perspectives that exist around it. It was a brilliant display of how young minds can approach big questions—with curiosity, maturity, and insight.”   Maria Spanaki

Another parent shared:

“I was marvelled at the work done by each student… The posters were great and each student explained their work in detail. Even I learnt a few new things from the TOK exhibition today!” – Dr. Prasanna

The event reflected the thoughtful and active learning taking place within the IAS community. Well done to all Grade 11 TOK students for their creativity, clear thinking, and commitment.

Special thanks to: Glynnis Balakrishnan for helping organise the event, Ines Borjon Vallego and Melania Pavlenok for set up and decorations and Stellina El Houssari and Candela Maroto for designing the invitation.

3rd and 4th Grade – Science Fair

The third and fourth graders spent the last two months creating science fair projects of their choice. There were many different science projects from robot frogs to a solar powered oven, and everything in between.

The third and fourth graders presented their science fair projects to their fellow classmates and invited guests Friday afternoon at D18. We are so impressed by their work!
