IAS teaches children from Pre-KG to Grade 12 in English, with students from more than 40 nationalities. Across the school there are about seven students to every teacher, so teachers come to know each child well. Families can ask admissions about the particular class their child would join.
Feedback during lessons
Teachers use questions, classwork and discussion to see what students understand. Because they know each student, they can follow up with one child and adjust a task or an explanation.
Taking part in discussion
Students practise explaining answers and listening to classmates. For children who are learning English, this also provides opportunities to use subject vocabulary. Where additional language support is needed, the EAL team assesses the student and discusses the options for their grade.
Working with parents
Parents can speak with teachers about progress, concerns and support. Those conversations help us understand what a child is finding difficult and what they would like to explore further.
Questions for a school visit
Ask about the number of pupils in your child’s class, how feedback is given and whom to contact if support is needed. You can also ask to see examples of classwork and discuss how teachers adapt tasks.
