IAS offers the IB Diploma Programme, the American High School Diploma and the Polish Matura. Choosing a programme means looking at the subjects a student has already studied, how each programme is assessed and the requirements of possible university courses.
IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma is a two-year programme in Grades 11 and 12. Students take six subjects at higher and standard levels, alongside Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. The Extended Essay is an independent research paper of up to 4,000 words, supported by a supervisor.
IAS has been authorised to offer the Diploma Programme since 2006. IB qualifications are accepted by universities in many countries, including Poland. Each university sets its own subject and score requirements.
American High School Diploma
The American diploma is based on completing required courses and credits through high school. A student’s transcript records their coursework and grades. IAS holds Cognia accreditation.
Families should check the entry requirements of individual universities. Depending on the country and course, additional examinations or recognition of qualifications may be required.
Polish Matura
The Matura is Poland’s school-leaving examination. University admissions may depend on results in particular subjects and at particular levels.
It is one route to Polish universities. The IB Diploma and eligible foreign qualifications can also be used, subject to the university’s admission and recognition rules. Students do not need a Polish Matura simply because they are Polish citizens.
Choosing subjects and a programme
Our educational guidance begins in Grade 9, with preparation and subject choices discussed before the final two years. A change of programme depends on the courses already completed, timing and the requirements still to be met. Please discuss a possible transfer with the school before making plans.
Results and a conversation with the school
In the May 2026 IB session, IAS students averaged 34 diploma points, compared with a worldwide average of approximately 30.6. The highest individual score was 41. The average subject grade was 5.36, compared with 4.97 worldwide.
