Admissions 2026/2027
Already in Warsaw or planning a move? See how to apply, including mid-year entry when a place is available in your child’s grade.
Can a child still start this school year?
Yes, if a place is available in your child’s year group. Admissions can check the grade and start date you need. If the class is full, ask about the waiting list and the enrolment fee conditions before making a payment.
The school runs from Kindergarten through Grade 12 in two buildings a few minutes apart in Ursynow, with Metro Kabaty at the end of the road. A Pre-Kindergarten group opens when there is demand for it. Full detail on how the process works is on the admissions page.
Arriving in Warsaw part way through the year
A move for work or family reasons can mean changing school during the year. IAS welcomes mid-year applications and has experience of students joining from different school systems. More than 40 nationalities are represented at the school.
Start by telling admissions your child’s current grade and expected arrival date. We can check places and explain which records and assessments are needed. You can begin this conversation from abroad, before you have a Polish address or a confirmed moving date.
Practical help for families moving to Warsaw
Alongside the curriculum, families often need information about travel, documents and helping their child settle in. These are useful points to discuss before the move.
Where you live and how far that is. Check the school journey from the neighbourhoods you are considering. The campus sits in Ursynow at the southern end of the first metro line, five minutes from Metro Kabaty, next to the Kabaty forest. Moving to Warsaw with children covers the districts families tend to choose and why, and there is a school bus that collects across the city and brings children home again.
Documents from the last school. Bring transcripts or reports in whatever language you have them, plus a recommendation letter from a Principal or teacher. Translation is usually straightforward and the admissions office will tell you which documents and translations are required.
Where a child is placed. Placement takes account of age at enrolment alongside prior schooling, language and any additional needs, so a child arriving from a different system is not automatically put back a year.
Settling into the class. Ask who will help your child during their first weeks. New arrivals are introduced into a class rather than left to find their own way in, and the guide for new families sets out the first weeks once a place is confirmed.
English language support
English is the main language of instruction at IAS. Students who need language support are assessed by the EAL team, which can explain the appropriate group and timetable. Ask admissions about the English requirements and support for your child’s grade, including any additional fees.
Embassies, companies and institutions
Diplomatic missions, international companies and institutions in Warsaw move families at short notice, sometimes several at once, and often outside the ordinary admissions calendar. The school works with them regularly and keeps a page for corporate and diplomatic families setting out how placements are arranged, what documentation is needed, and how quickly a start date can be confirmed.
Where an organisation is placing more than one family, arrangements can be agreed with the school directly. The admissions office will set the terms out in writing on request, so a relocation manager has something definite to work from. Write to [email protected] with the number of children, their ages and the expected start date, and the reply will tell you what is available.
Applications for 2027/2028 are open too
We are accepting applications for 2027/2028. Contact admissions when you know your likely start date. You can ask about the process while your plans are still being confirmed.
About the school, briefly
IAS was founded in 1989 as the first private American school in post-Communist Poland, which makes this its thirty seventh year. It is accredited three times over, by the International Baccalaureate Organization, by Cognia, and by the Polish Ministry of Education, and students graduate with the IB Diploma, the American High School Diploma or the Polish Matura. In the May 2026 session the average IB diploma score here was 34, against a worldwide average of about 30.6, with a highest individual score of 41. The results page has the full breakdown. There are seven students to every teacher across the school.
How to apply, and who to ask
The application form is at admissions.ias.edu.pl, and the apply now page walks through the six steps in order, from the form to the welcome letter. Records and a recommendation letter are attached at the second step, and the place is held once the enrolment fee is paid. The fee schedule, the discounts and a calculator all sit on the tuition page when you want them.
You are welcome to contact admissions with questions before applying. The admissions office answers on [email protected], on +48 22 649 14 40, and on +48 577 550 302 for a call, a text or WhatsApp, Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 16:00. Come and see the school on a normal working day if you can. Lessons will be running.
